Culture affecting Christian Lacroix's design
「Lacroix attended bullfighting events and enjoyed Gypsy and Provencal traditions in his early childhood. Afterwards , his family moved to Arles, it was the city of southern culture, with breathtaking views and expansive tempers, when people and women especially put on their brightest, best clothes, which combined old vintage dresses with laces, modern high heels and hats. 」
As that was the source and inspiration of the Lacroix's fashion vision, i would like to do some research about these apect.
Gypsy used to referred to the Romani people, who first appeared in England at about the beginning of the 16th century.
Many Gypsy live in Spain. In Spain, Flamenco is a popular dance.Flamenco is a Spanish term that refers both to a musical genre, known for its intricate rapid passages, and a dance genre characterized by its audible footwork. The origins of the term are unclear. The word Flamenco, which applies to the song, the dance and the guitar, did not come into use until the 19th century.

According to the above pictures, we can see that the Gypsy woman 's clothes are full of colorful and shape colors, eg. red, orande, blue , which are match to black and white color.
Moreover, the clothing of Gypsy women are always long, bulky dresses with many layers at the bottom part which is make by many layers of ruffles. There are large amount of embroidery and dots patterns on theie clothing.
Furthermore, Gypsy woman like to wear headscarf. Those headscarf are always in shape colors or full of embroidery patterns.
In Christain Lacroix's designs, we can always see these elements.
